Environmental and chemical engineers face the challenge of devising new techniques to prevent air pollution from manufacturing and industry. This challenge is compounded by the potential for added clean-up steps or costs to the manufacturing processes. Engineers must be creative in designing new pollutant recovery methods and industrial technologies that clean up and prevent air pollution that are efficient and cost-effective.
